Blue Pyrenees Richardson Reserve Shiraz 2018
Blue Pyrenees Richardson Reserve Shiraz 2018Pyrenees, Victoria 0557991 (XD) 14% Alc./Vol. 750 mL $64.60 TASTING NOTE : With 4% viognier. The late Colin Richardson was a big-hearted and unfailing supporter of Victorian wines who loved a generous, honest red. Bring a decanter to this wine when it is released. It's tight and focused at this early stage, with so much promise just brimming below the surface. Signature Pyrenees menthol notes are pervasive, but nicely countered by dense, ripe blackberries, raspberries, plums, licorice, chocolate and earth. Tannins are muscular. They'll be needed for the journey ahead. Drink from: 2022. Drink by: 2033. Score - 94. (Jeni Port, winecompanion.com.au, Aug. 16, 2022)

Clarendon Hills Onkaparinga Syrah 2020
Clarendon Hills Onkaparinga Syrah 2020Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale 0064154 (XD) 14% Alc./Vol. 750 mL $105.30 TASTING NOTE : The 2020 Onkaparinga Syrah is exotic and riddled with roast meats, black olive, graphite, iodine, minerality, Sichuan and pink peppercorns. Superb. Christ. How this will make it through the gauntlet of cellar raids and make it into old age, I don't know. Magical. Score - 98. (Erin Larkin, robertparker.com, Sept. 15, 2022)

Stadt Krems Ried Grillenparz 1.ÖTW Riesling 2019DAC Kremstal 0040874 (XD) 14% Alc./Vol. 750 mL $33.70 TASTING NOTE : A hint of grapefruit zest accompanies juicy Mandarin and ripe lemon notes on the vivid nose. There is clarity and precision on the concentrated yet utterly fluid and juicy palate. That zingy, wonderful zestiness also dominates the long, mouthwatering, dry finish. Score - 95. On Seven The Devotion Chardonnay 2020
On Seven The Devotion Chardonnay 2020VQA Niagara-on-the-Lake 0024089 (XD) 14% Alc./Vol. 750 mL $57.60 TASTING NOTE : 100% estate fruit, certified Organic by Pro-Cert; mostly Clone 76 planted in 2014, with small percentages of Clone 95 (2015 planting) and Clone 96 (2018 planting). French oak barrels (20% new, 80% neutral) for wild yeast fermentation and 20 months aging. Coarsely filtered and bottled. Classic barrel selection resulted in the crafting of the flagship chardonnay from 2020. The Devotion is looking great at this stage, with some of the creamy character broadcast in The Pursuit, but a richer and harmonious style. More complete. More depth of flavour, too. Promises to age well - I can't wait to see 3, 4, 5 years of development, something I struggle to say about many 2020 whites. Remarkable. Score - 96. (Christopher Waters, medium.com, Aug. 12, 2023)

C.Marey Hospice de Beaune Cuvée Madeleine Collignon Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru 2014
C.Marey Hospice de Beaune Cuvée Madeleine Collignon Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru 2014AC 0037476 (XD) 14% Alc./Vol. 750 mL $1,557.60 TASTING NOTE : This wine comes from a plot in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, with nearly 60% of the vines planted in 1947. It's a powerful, ripe, rich expression with compact fruit, but there's a purity and precision here that is simply breathtaking. A superb wine that can be enjoyed now in its relative youth, but one that has decades ahead of it.

Dirler-Cadé Alsace Grand Cru Kitterlé Gewurztraminer 2019AC 0041279 (M) 14% Alc./Vol. 750 mL $64.30 TASTING NOTE : Wide-screen nose of spices and exotic fruit (not just lychee, but also papaya and mangosteen!) Very rich and succulent with enveloping creaminess, but only a touch of sweetness and almost no perceptible bitterness, this is a remarkable gewurz that's astonishingly easy to drink, thanks to the silky texture and excellent balance at the very long finish. Domaine Berthoumieu Vitis MCM 2016AP Madiran 0041923 (XD) 14% Alc./Vol. 750 mL $49.60 TASTING NOTE : Once you've negotiated the awkwardly heavy bottle, the wine is a great pour. Powerfully tannic, it is rich in dark berry flavors and dense concentration. Because it is still young, its structure and firm extraction are still evident. As it matures, this will become a finely balanced wine. Drink from 2023. Score - 95. (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Dec. 31, 2020)

There's considerable power alongside notes of apple, pear, citrus, hazelnut and mineral. A versatile, broad-shouldered Chardonnay that will pair with roast pork, lobster, and a wide range of cheeses. It has the potential to evolve through 2032.

Domaine Louis Moreau Vaudésir Chablis Grand Cru 2020
Domaine Louis Moreau Vaudésir Chablis Grand Cru 2020AC 0027558 (XD) 13% Alc./Vol. 750 mL $105.30 TASTING NOTE : The 2020 Chablis Vaudésir Grand Cru has a terse, stony, austere bouquet whose neutrality I quite admire. The palate is well balanced with a twist of sour lemon on the entry, moderate weight with a patina of white chocolate towards the finish. Not bad, though it just misses some mineralité towards the finish. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis. Drink date 2023-2032. Score - 90. (Neal Martin, vinous.com, Sept. 15, 2022)

Halos de Jupiter Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2022
Halos de Jupiter Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2022AC 0038376 (XD) 14% Alc./Vol. 750 mL $56.70 TASTING NOTE : While they're not sure if an Adrastée will be produced or not, the 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape will be worth your time and money. Black raspberries, darker strawberries, pepper, and loads of floral notes all define the aromatics, and it's medium-bodied, with a pure, layered, mouth-filling texture, ripe tannins, and a great finish. A blend of 85% Grenache, 10% Syrah, and 5% Mourvèdre that was destemmed and is still resting in used demi-muids, it will have 15 years of overall longevity. Score - 92-94. La Chablisienne Côte de Léchet Chablis 1er Cru 2022
La Chablisienne Côte de Léchet Chablis 1er Cru 2022AC 0040331 (XD) 13% Alc./Vol. 750 mL $58.40 TASTING NOTE : The expected citrus influence typical of a fine Côte de Léchet is very much present on the layered aromas of mineral reduction, tidal pool and apple. There is slightly better precision to the still nicely rich and attractively textured middleweight flavors that flash an evident stoniness on the saliva-induing, clean and bright finish that is dry without being unduly austere. Drink: 2028+. Score - 90-92. (Allen Meadows, burghound.com, Aug. 10, 2023)

Laurent Perrachon Vieilles Vignes Fleurie 2022AC 0041331 (XD) 13% Alc./Vol. 750 mL $28.30 TASTING NOTE : This fun, juicy Fleurie rocks! Deep purple in color, this wine has a perfumed nose of rose petals, cranberry, crushed raspberry, dried cherry, black plum and rhubarb. Black tea reveals itself on the palate supported by slightly grippy tannin ultimately completing with a long finish. Best Buy. [Drink through 2032.] Score - 94.
