A dry but coolish summer combined with limestone soils certainly sends those pH levels pretty low. Although fairly tight and austere, this unfolds prettily with a good focus of brambly and bristling black fruits, and a clear sense of lift through the palate. Gentle liquorice and bitter dark chocolate notes are extremely well done. The acidity is high, but just about controlled and balanced by the other elements. It's not a hedonistic experience, for sure - it's a wine that you need to sit down with. Intellectual and promising. Drinking Window: 2024-2036. Score - 91. (Jane Anson, decanter.com)
