Château Alcée 2016

Made In: France—Bordeaux Product Type: Red Wine Bottle Size: 750mL Alcohol/Vol: 13% Sugar Content: 5G/L Sweetness Descriptor: XD VINTAGES#: 0529404 Program Type: Bordeaux Futures

The 2016 Château Alcée is a blend of 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc that is matured in 50% new oak. The nose offers upfront red berry fruit with mulberry and black truffle aromas, quite powerful although missing the delineation of the 2015 last year. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip on the entry and fine tannin; midway through this Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, the class and sophistication shows through, especially with that dash of white pepper that lingers on the aftertaste. It will require three or four years in bottle to fully meld together, but this is a fine contribution to the vintage. Drink Date: 2021-2035. Score - 90-92. (Neal Martin, robertparker.com)
