The 2016 Les Charmes-Godard is lush, textured and inviting. Ripe orchard fruit, chamomile, dried flowers, almonds and a kiss of French oak all flesh out in a textured, inviting white loaded with class and personality. In 2016, the blend is 50% Sémillon, 30% Sauvignon Gris and 20% Sauvignon Blanc, fermented in 500 liter barrels, with about 10% new oak and 2 barrels of acacia that Nicolas Thienpont and his team are experimenting with. In some vintages, Les Charmes-Godard needs time in bottle to be at its best, but the 2016 looks like it will drink well from the outset. I tasted the 2016 from tank just prior to bottling.
