This Scotch was aged in first-fill Sherry casks, with a significant percentage aged in smaller hogshead casks. This allowed more direct contact between the whisky and the wood, imparting greater complexity and nuanced colour, aromas and flavours. The final blend incorporates some American-oak-aged whiskies to produce the floral, citrus, apple and dried fruit notes in the end product.
