Until the 2015 vintage, all the fruit from Château Haut Brisson came from down towards Château Teyssier; however, in 2013 Peter Kwok bought a parcel located on the limestone plateau in Saint-Etienne-de-Lisse, which obviously will impact and hopefully improve the quality. The 2015 Haut Brisson is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc cropped at 34 hl/ha and matured in 35% new oak. It has a potent, perfumed bouquet with violet-inked cassis and blueberry fruit that is very well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. This is a little more structured and classier than previous vintages, though there is some chocolaty oak on the finish that needs to be fully subsumed by the time it is bottled. Give this 2-3 years in bottle, because it is a very well-crafted Haut Brisson, though I think even better is to come. Drink: 2018-2035. Score - 91-93. (robertparker.com)
