The Château Grand Corbin-Despagne 2014 a blend of 75% Merlot and 24% Cabernet Franc with a pinch of Cabernet Sauvignon. It is very closed on the nose at first, but it opens with cassis and blueberry fruit, a touch of glycerine later. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. The acidity is well judged. It clams up tightly on the finish, but there is certainly complexity and class here. This is one of the best wines from this Saint Emilion estate that I have tasted in recent years. Drink: 2019-2035.
