Les Folatières premier cru site is quite steep and comprises rocky limestone soils. The vines have to work very hard and dig very deep to find water and nutrients. This imparts a great concentration and intensity to the fruit of the Chardonnay grown here, as well as infusing the wines with a precise minerality. These are Chardonnays of considerable depth.
