Winemaker, Adam Eggins, accepted the rather daunting task of creating a wine that would 'stand tall against Mouton-Rothschild' to celebrate Taylor's 50th anniversary. At AUD $1, 000, it is believed to be Australia's most expensive current vintage cabernet sauvignon. A blend of Clare Valley and Coonawarra grapes, with a touch of merlot and cabernet franc. It's certainly a very impressive wine with great power that is delivered with finesse. More Lamborghini than Ford Mustang. The wine has the classic cabernet markers of mint, cassis and cedar with a strong influence of decadently spicy French oak that's fairly prominent at this early stage. Texturally it's an absolute winner - teasingly fine-grained. A wine for the cellar. Very collectible (1080 bottles made - each presented encased in a three-pronged sculpture and sealed with a key and micro-chip to guarantee authenticity). Drink date: 2018-2033. Score - 98.
